CRITERIA FOR JAMAICAN INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS MBA SCHOLARSHIP

MANCHESTER BUSINESS SCHOOL WORLDWIDE MBA FOR ENGINEERING BUSINESS MANAGERS
In order to ensure professional development of its membership, The Jamaican Institution of Engineers wishes to offer a scholarship for a suitable candidate who is desirous of pursing the Manchester Business School Worldwide distance learning Master of Business Administration (MBA) for Engineering Business Managers Programme. The tenure of the scholarship is 3 years.
General Information
The Manchester School of Business was founded in 1965 and was the first UK institution to offer an MBA programme. Surveys in the London Financial Times consistently rank the School in the top ten in Europe and particularly highlight the School’s excellent research capacity, its international mix of students and the salary progression of MBA graduates. It has recently been ranked 22nd in the Financial Times 2006 and 2007 Global MBA Survey.
The degree awarded by the University of Manchester/Manchester Business School and that awarded to the distance-learning students is exactly the same as that awarded to full-time residential students.

The programme is being administered in Jamaica through its Caribbean Centre, Jamaica Institute of Bankers which is located at 39 Hope Road, Kingston.
The Scholarship

Scholarship award will be 50% of the total fee which is currently £12,150

Award is offered for 2007 July semester and cannot be deferred
Eligibility
Candidate must:

Be a member of the Jamaican Institution of Engineers
-
Have at least a first degree or 5 years substantial work experience
-
Meet the matriculation requirements of the Manchester Business School Worldwide
- Not be the holder of an MBA degree
- Not be the beneficiary of any other scholarship/grant
Performance

Candidate’s academic performance will be monitored and reviewed each semester before the required payment is disbursed to Manchester Business School Worldwide

Candidate must maintain at least a passing grade
Application Process

Submit an essay of no more than 1500 words, no later than May 16, 2007 addressed to the President, Jamaica Institution of Engineers entitled “As an engineer how will an MBA help my Career Development”

Be available to attend an interview

Successful candidates will be informed in writing by May 25, 2007
